The Natural Alternative

Public awareness around the affects of chemicals in sunscreen has steadily increased since the January 2008 National Geographic article, Swimmers' Sunscreen Kill off Coral, and the March 2008 Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Press Release, Americans Carry 'Body Burden' of Toxic Sunscreen Chemical. The Environmental Working (EWG) has expanded upon the CDC press release with analysis that cites additional research and concerns for oxybenzone, the focus of the CDC press release. They also list the 588 sunscreens that contain oxybenzone, also known as benzophenone-3, as well as other cosmetic products, including; moisturizers, lip balms, lip stick, conditioners, and fragrances. Concerns include how oxybenzone damages and penetrates skin, may disrupt the hormone system, and the effects on children.

Soléo Organics All Natural Sunscreen is one of a handful of products that do not contain any chemical UV-absorbers such as oxybenzone. Additionally Soléo Organics All Natural Sunscreen does not contain Titanium Dioxode, another UV-blocker, but rather uses Zinc Oxide as its only active ingredient. Furthermore, Soléo Organics All Natural Sunscreen is the first product to use only organically sourced ingredients for its cream, meaning all ingredients with the exception of the zinc oxide are organically sourced.
